Lead generation at it’s finest

Every single business I know of needs a steady flow of quality leads that ultimately become buyers.

Does Facebook advertising work?

Spring 2007.  I was gearing up for my first Wild West Wealth Summit, and was trying some different lead generation tools.

One of them was Facebook ads.

If I recall right, the advertising part of it was fairly new, and even Facebook was nothing big (compared to the hyper-addiction it has now become for many).

The ads were cheap, cheap… so I thought I would try them out.

Low and behold, $15 in advertising clicks and I had sold $1,300 worth of tickets to the Summit!

THAT is my kind of ROI !!

Fast forward 5 years to today…

…does it still work like that?

It can.

But it can also bomb.

Just like any kind of marketing.

Saying Facebook advertising doesn’t work is like saying email marketing doesn’t work…

…or that direct mail doesn’t work…

…or that referral marketing doesn’t work.

I call BS on anyone that says that kind of nonsense.

It ALL works.

Not necessarily the first time you try it though.

You have to try different ad approaches.  Different landing page approaches.  Different copy.  Different graphics.  (change one thing at a time and measure the difference in response you get).

It all DOES work, and HAS worked for many people.

But it can fail badly just as easily.

I am working on a project right now in a specific niche, and Facebook advertising is a part of the lead generation efforts.

I targeted a specific geographic area, set my daily spend low to start, set my targeted likes and demographics… then let it loose.

And it bombed.

So I rewrote the ad, put a different picture in, refined the targeting.

Nailed it.

Got exactly what I wanted…

…good click through rates, good landing page results, and some VERY telling demographic information.

Facebook has some exceptional demographic reporting.

I found out that a certain sex between 45-64, that live in 4 Canadian provinces are VERY good prospects for me.  They clicked the highest and responded the highest.

Now I can refine my ads and target JUST THEM.

So I eliminate the money I was spending on the wrong age groups and wrong provinces… while narrowly targeting my most likely prospects.

The results are exceptional when you do measured and targeted marketing like this.

Gotta love this time of year.

Everyone is happier… it starts getting beautiful outside (somewhere… I am sure, just not here today : ) … and the holiday seasons are starting to show themselves.

Spring holidays.

Summer holidays.

…All the perfect opportunity for you to be in touch with your prospects and clients.

Right now is when you need to be out there in front of your clients noses – showing them exactly why they should trust you and shop with you again (especially when their minds are on everything else BUT buying from you).

This is on top of your efforts to attract new clients.

How to Maximize Your Marketing Results with 2 Easy Steps

1) First thing you need to do is make them an offer they can’t refuse. And the easiest way to do that is to bundle your products and services in new “packages” that are not available at any other time of the year. Why?

Because they are looking for a deal. A deal they can’t find anywhere else – and it doesn’t mean the cheapest price either… it means the most attractive offer.

Do you have multiple products and services? Have you created an inventory of your products and services?

Do it – right now… the results will amaze you.

List off every product, service, report, package, or incentive you have for your clients.

Then fit like-minded products together in a few different ways – have a Silver, Gold, and Platinum package arrangement ranging from inexpensive to medium ticket price to high end price tag.

For example, maybe you run a massage business.

You could offer a 60 minute massage, a book on at-home- stress-relief, an audio complete with soothing music, massage oil for at home use, and a couple nice candles to top it off.

Let’s say you price this at $75 – which is the perfect price point for many lower end gifts – package it up nicely with gift certificates on nice paper, a basket, wrapped up professionally.

Your gold offer – monthly massages for 6 months, free spa products, the book as above – plus one more on creating your own spa at home, the candles and oil also included, plus a nice pair of slippers for lounging. Price tag – $500

Your platinum – 12 months worth of massages, all of the above, plus a facial and pedicure every other month (done by someone you subcontract with). This for $750. This gives you 3 very nice packages that you can offer your clients… packages that are not available at any other time of the year.

Bundle them up real nice and have them wrapped up like a pro – and you will make a very attractive offer for your clients that are looking for simple gifts they can buy – right up to the husbands who will pay the big ticket price tag knowing that the gift they are giving their wife will be very much appreciated for the next 12 months.

2) After you have your bundle created – then you need to get the message out.

First – tell your existing clients – they are much more likely to buy than someone who has never bought from you before.

Then, your past clients who haven’t bought from you in a while. Chances are good; they haven’t bought from you because they haven’t heard from you. So remind them you are around and you want their business. Last, spread the word to potential customers.

How do you get the word out?

Postcards – simple – easy – great way to drive traffic to your holiday bundle sales page.

Direct mail – send them a simple letter to tell them what kind of special deals you have put together for them this year.

Phone calls – call all the customers and prospects that you have their numbers.

Personalized faxes to people who have bought from you before.

Facebook Fan Pages and profile updates.

Facebook ads.

Google ads.

Email marketing campaigns.

Joint ventures.

Paid print advertising (yes, they do still work and they can bring you more quality leads per dollar than online. It is YOUR job to find every avenue that works to bring you leads. Ignoring print media is a big mistake… but is your choice to make).

Web pages announcing your holiday offers – the graphics on your main page lead them to your sales page for the bundles.

A Warning Though… if you are going through all this effort and work to improve your holiday sales – you had better make sure your message is done right.

- The web page sales pitch you use must convince them to buy.
- The sales copy you use must compel them to take action.
- The image you are portraying to your clients and prospects
  must show them you know what you are doing – and will treat
  them with the utmost of respect.

Now is the time to get busy!

Your clients and prospects are just as excited about spring and summer as you and I. So you need to get out there and pump up the fun you can offer them.

Make it fun.

Make it memorable.

Free lead generation at its finest

I love free leads.

…don’t you?

One of the best ways to generate free leads and new customers
is through referral or word of mouth marketing.

Why? Because when a prospect is referred to you by someone
they already trust… they are much more likely to hire you
without questioning price.

And eliminating price shopping is very important… and price
competition is a battle you will never win. Someone is always
hungrier than you and more willing to give it away for next to nothing.

Step one in lead generation and follow up

We ALL need a fresh supply of leads coming into our business.

Yet, it can be one of the most difficult things you can do.

They can be expensive… difficult to find (quality ones anyhow)…and converting a lead to a buyer is not always simple.

Step #1 in the process is outlined here today, and the follow up steps will come next week.

Rule #1 Must Have A Good Headline – and possibly a different font as the rest of the ad

All Bold – NOT ALL CAPS – which is difficult to read

Your ad must visually stand out from other ads (look at the ads in the section you’ll be advertising in and make yours look and sound different)

Either an attention getting headline – or a benefit based headline (WARNING! STOP! IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO…  or the Fastest and Easiest Way To Lose Weight- For FREE… or… How To Win
Friends and Win Friends and Influence People)

Rule #2 You must address the readers – not yourself

Use “normal people talk” not “advertising” talk – make it sound like a conversation you would say to a prospect the first time you try to get their attention

Again, you must contrast with others in the section – talk like one of them

Write your ad as if you are talking to one person only.  Most ads are written as if they are talking to a group (use words like you and yours – actually count the use of you and your versus I and we – there should be less than 5% of the use of I , me or we)

When people are looking at ads – they are typically interested in buying – so always remember you’re talking with people who already have a burning desire for your offer

Rule #3 Make Your Display Advertisement As Long As It Needs To Be

There is a false belief that you must keep your ad as short as possible (again – false advice from people who have never been accountable for the results they get from their advertising.  The more you tell the more you sell has always been true – and it always will be)

Always be addressing the benefits of what you provide to them – not the features. List out everything about you, your business, your product or service – then ask “so what?” – do you answer that? Do you tell them what it means to them?  What is in it for them to read your ad and to call or come by your business?

Rule #4 Find a way to leave them with an emotion after reading your ad

Create a picture in their mind of their new lifestyle – using your product or service – enjoying the benefits – thinking how glad they are that they used your service or bought your product

BY FAR - the biggest mistake made – you MUST have call to action (most people miss this one. ask for them to take action – request your report – get their free coupon – book a free consultation – make it a limited time offer – or limited quantity – or a single day of the week)
