Earlier this week I was on a coaching call with one of my Platinum members, and she was having a vent session.

You know, one of those horrible “this is all just too hard I think I should just give up, I’m not really cut out to do this”..kind of vent session.

I’ve certainly had them and I bet you have too.

When I was a kid, my Mom used to call these outbursts “haircuts”. All we’d have to say to her is “Mom – I need to have a haircut – can you listen for a sec?”. And we’d let it all hang out, moan, whine and complain…and within 5 minutes, usually felt a lot better.

Vent sessions are important. No – they’re critical for your success.

Being a solopreneur can be lonely and terribly isolating…there you are banging away at your key board, with just your dog at your feet…and an empty
coffee mug on your desk. Its essential you have an outlet – someone you can trust your innermost fears to, who’s not going to freak out (like your
husband who just saw the credit card bill and is wondering if this “marketing stuff really works!”)

That’s the power of having a good coach.

Someone who can help you walk through your fears, realign your path, and keep you moving exactly where you need to go.

I heard someone once say that you can never put a price on having someone in your life who believes in you more than you believe in yourself…

I saw the power of this when I was 15 years old in high school. My Mom’s best friend also happened to be the vice principal of my high school and the
head of the math department…

Now math has NEVER been my strong suit. But when I was 15, the vice principal took my Mom aside one day and told her that I didn’t have a hope
of passing my math exam that year. And of course, my now very worried Mom, told me…

Thing is…she was probably right.

Except that that wasn’t what I wanted to hear..and I’m a Capricorn (goat) …so, if you want me to do something…just tell me it can’t be done and I’ll
find a path to get there!

That year I got a math coach and met with her religiously twice a week. For me that was akin to having to get a root canal on a regular basis

…algebra, statistics, fractions YECH!!!

There were times I’d show up to those coaching sessions in floods of tears because I just didn’t “get” it. My coach would quietly listen, and when I’d
finished throwing my pity party and having a vent session, she’d say to me quietly “alright…now where were we..”

That year I passed my math exam with 76% – a personal triumph of epidemic proportions! But if my coach hadn’t believed in me…or had told me that it
was unlikely I’d pass and I should just “stick to art”…I would never, ever had known what I was capable of.

What about you?

What problem are you grappling with at the moment that makes you just want to scream? Is it bad enough to make you question whether you should throw in

Spring is here and marketing opportunities abound

Spring is here and opportunities abound..

Gotta love this time of year.

Everyone is happier… it starts getting beautiful outside (somewhere… I am sure, just not here today : ) … and the holiday seasons are starting to show themselves.

Spring holidays.

Summer holidays.

…All the perfect opportunity for you to be in touch with your prospects and clients.

Right now is when you need to be out there in front of your clients noses – showing them exactly why they should trust you and shop with you again (especially when their minds are on everything else BUT buying from you).

This is on top of your efforts to attract new clients.

How to Maximize Your Marketing Results with 2 Easy Steps

1) First thing you need to do is make them an offer they can’t refuse. And the easiest way to do that is to bundle your products and services in new “packages” that are not available at any other time of the year. Why?

Because they are looking for a deal. A deal they can’t find anywhere else – and it doesn’t mean the cheapest price either… it means the most attractive offer.

Do you have multiple products and services? Have you created an inventory of your products and services?

Do it – right now… the results will amaze you.

List off every product, service, report, package, or incentive you have for your clients.

Then fit like-minded products together in a few different ways – have a Silver, Gold, and Platinum package arrangement ranging from inexpensive to medium ticket price to high end price tag.

For example, maybe you run a massage business.

You could offer a 60 minute massage, a book on at-home- stress-relief, an audio complete with soothing music, massage oil for at home use, and a couple nice candles to top it off.

Let’s say you price this at $75 – which is the perfect price point for many lower end gifts – package it up nicely with gift certificates on nice paper, a basket, wrapped up professionally.

Your gold offer – monthly massages for 6 months, free spa products, the book as above – plus one more on creating your own spa at home, the candles and oil also included, plus a nice pair of slippers for lounging. Price tag – $500

Your platinum – 12 months worth of massages, all of the above, plus a facial and pedicure every other month (done by someone you subcontract with). This for $750. This gives you 3 very nice packages that you can offer your clients… packages that are not available at any other time of the year.

Bundle them up real nice and have them wrapped up like a pro – and you will make a very attractive offer for your clients that are looking for simple gifts they can buy – right up to the husbands who will pay the big ticket price tag knowing that the gift they are giving their wife will be very much appreciated for the next 12 months.

2) After you have your bundle created – then you need to get the message out.

First – tell your existing clients – they are much more likely to buy than someone who has never bought from you before.

Then, your past clients who haven’t bought from you in a while. Chances are good; they haven’t bought from you because they haven’t heard from you. So remind them you are around and you want their business. Last, spread the word to potential customers.

How do you get the word out?

Postcards – simple – easy – great way to drive traffic to your holiday bundle sales page.

Direct mail – send them a simple letter to tell them what kind of special deals you have put together for them this year.

Phone calls – call all the customers and prospects that you have their numbers.

Personalized faxes to people who have bought from you before.

Facebook Fan Pages and profile updates.

Facebook ads.

Google ads.

Email marketing campaigns.

Joint ventures.

Paid print advertising (yes, they do still work and they can bring you more quality leads per dollar than online. It is YOUR job to find every avenue that works to bring you leads. Ignoring print media is a big mistake… but is your choice to make).

Web pages announcing your holiday offers – the graphics on your main page lead them to your sales page for the bundles.

A Warning Though… if you are going through all this effort and work to improve your holiday sales – you had better make sure your message is done right.

- The web page sales pitch you use must convince them to buy.
- The sales copy you use must compel them to take action.
- The image you are portraying to your clients and prospects
  must show them you know what you are doing – and will treat
  them with the utmost of respect.

Now is the time to get busy!

Your clients and prospects are just as excited about spring and summer as you and I. So you need to get out there and pump up the fun you can offer them.

Make it fun.

Make it memorable.

…and last, make your message one they are glad to share with others!

Free lead generation at its finest

I love free leads.

…don’t you?

One of the best ways to generate free leads and new customers
is through referral or word of mouth marketing.

Why? Because when a prospect is referred to you by someone
they already trust… they are much more likely to hire you
without questioning price.

And eliminating price shopping is very important… and price
competition is a battle you will never win. Someone is always

Fantastic beasts and where to find them

What a fantastic title that is.

Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, is a little known book by JK Rowling.JK Rowling, marketing

Get it…

…or at least take the lessons I learned to heart and use them in your business.

This is not the actual mainstream book series like Harry Potter.

This is a niche book for true fans and devoted followers.

From the back:

Not only is a great bit of teaser copy to the magical world that lays inside these pages, it leaves a harder close than normal books would – I SURE don’t want to get attacked by a Maticore, I don’t know about you!

The Manticore is a “highly dangerous Greek beast with the head of a man, the body of a lion and the tail  of a scorpion.  As dangerous as the Chimeraea, and as rare, the Manticore is reputed to croon softly as it devours its prey. Manticore skin repels almost all charms and the sting causes instant death.”

So what does this have to do with you and your marketing?

First, you need to realize that your greatest fans and customers LOVE new products that help them understand and use more effectively your other products.

JK Rowling has one of the best imaginations in the world, and her ability to put that into a form millions could read is amazing.

But she gets marketing.

She KNOWS that there is a segment of her customer base that would love to know more about the creatures in the books and movies that don’t even really exist (well, they do in the mind anyhow).

88 pages of descriptions of monsters and beasts that she created.

What they eat.

What they look like.

What to be careful of.

Did I say brilliant?

Think about your client base and the questions they have about your products and services?

Anything keep on coming up in the questions you get?

Why don’t you create videos, books or articles that address the questions and give them a chance to get involved.

Or create new products that help deepen the use of the existing products they own.

If you have a client base, there are other things you should be offering to them.

Period.

But its up to you to figure out what they want ad how they want it delivered.

The second BIG lesson here is something I have been hinting at A LOT lately!

Sub-niches.

A real GOLDEN opportunity for you in this present economy is to find very specific groups of people within your client base that have common characteristics.

Maybe a percentage of them skydive.

Or read Harry Potter books.

Or own cats.

You can target JUST THOSE people in your marketing.

It makes your marketing much easier to do.

And even MORE easier for your ideal clients to notice.

It’s like the “Pet Lovers  Realtor” I have spoken about.

She gets it.

She markets in kids magazines (parents with young kids are highly likely to also have a pet).

She markets in pet magazines and newsletters on a local scale.

She markets in some of the usual places… but in a city of 5,000 realtors… she is the ONLY one calling herself the Pet Lovers Realtor and using a picture of her and her dog.

So, so much easier to stand out in all the clutter when you are calling out to a VERY specific type of person.

Do you see that?

I hope so – this is a monster opportunity to improve the results of your marketing with just a few minor tweaks in your approach.
