Inside the twisted and demented mind of a marketer/copywriter

First off, Happy Black Friday shopping today!demented

If you missed my Black Friday 50% off pre-launch sale on the 2016 Cash Flow Calendar, grab it here =:> http://www.cashflowcalendars.com

That calendar is 9 years in the works, and just keeps on getting better. Grab your spot and some exciting things are coming this year for those in the group.
14 years ago, when I left the corporate sales world, I was desperately seeking out some creative outlets.

Which is where I stumbled on copywriting.

I think it was a Dan Kennedy book I found at the library, that started me down the path (that – and my dads long-copy reprimand letters I used to get as a teenage trouble-maker – funny stories for another time next week).

I dug deep – studied – wrote – absorbed – and failed lots (still do – but that’s what you need to do to find the successes!).

One thing I became was an avid note taker.

Notes everywhere.

Lo and behold…

…I just found a box of random ‘drive-by’ thoughts.

Some very odd ones – some very soon-to-be-profitable ones.

A few examples:

* 17 ways PT Barnum used wacky ideas from the newspaper to get massive (and free) media attention…

* Broken nose blunders and the story of Rick Fowler…

* The subculture of the introverted parents of girl guides (how we all hid in our cars, rather than forcing ourselves to talk to the other parents)…

* Fabulous ways to make people ‘think’ they are making progress…when they clearly aren’t (I used to leave my cave and travel a lot – always laughed at the long windey lineups at customs that never seemed to work)

* How to turn marketing bashfulness into marketing pride…

* The reason I turned grey in a single weekend (and the profitable lessons learned while aging on a supercharger)

* Quintessentially Canadian and frost-white dingo-balls on my toque (if you don’t know what a toque is… look it up – a Canadian term for “its too friggin cold out!”…

* Gene Simmons mastery and 14 ways he leveraged one business to build his others

* 8 ways the genius copywriter Clayton Makepeace creates such killer sales copy (and makes millions for his clients every WEEK)…

* 9 ways to be a ZENpreneur…

* Paranormal X-ray vision of a 5 year old…

* Marketing lessons of the Rain Forest Cafe and a passionate cult following of buyers…

* The hamster/buffalo race-off and how to milk the media for everything they got…

PLUS…

A few not-so-nice ones I must have written while in a bad mood (or after a few too many libations maybe):

* Makeup won’t cover up the bitch…

* He did it in a dumpster?

* Do something different for a change…be a fricking decent parent for once!

* “Honey, I sold the Christmas tree”

* Don’t tell the wife – the girl I slept with in my teens – turned into a hot lesbian bank robber…

* We got roofied in mexico…

* Don’t be so special, you can do something motherly for christ sake…

* S*****…your ex-wife is breaking into your house. She looks perplexed…

* I draw the line at canabilism…

There’s a lot more I won’t share here.

Some were just stupid.

Some were highly intuitive into business ideas and marketing opportunities that were soon to come.

LOTS were fantastic ideas for content.
SO WHAT?

What’s the point?

If you are trying to grow a business, you need to always be on the lookout for marketing opportunities.

They are EVERYWHERE!

Most blindly go about life with their nose buried in a texting device…a select few see what’s going on around them and make some great profits by entertaining and educating their clients.

This one single box of notes I found – is worth tens of thousands to me.

It could be for you too!

Join the 2016 Cash Flow Calendar group – and I am setting up a private Facebook group where we reveal real-time marketing ideas. I will also be sharing the actionable ideas from this box inside the group too…

Fran used the Cash Flow Calendar to go from $1000/mth to $1000/day

7 years ago I had an epiphany.

I realized my best promotions I had done for my clients involved some wacky themes.

Usually I did them in multi-step campaigns that were sent out to their clients and prospects via email, some direct mail, with some social media plugs here and there.

I had some wild and wacky stuff going out.

Amish craftsmen go hi tech and high touch (I got my Amish clients to approve running a very unusual ad with a girl in a knee high skirt – scandalous for the Amish – hugely profitable for their business).

Enquirer tabloid style headline campaigns (one of them did 400% better click-throughs and 240% better orders with a “robotic mouse attacks man, woman and child” email campaign)

My Wild West Wealth Summit that I ran for 2 years and still get feedback monthly from people who attended the events, applied what they learned, and are killing it in their businesses.

The point is…

…off-the-wall marketing WORKS!

Plain and simple.

It stands out from the crowd.

It gives you the freedom to have more fun in your marketing.

It opens up the creative gateways for all kinds of cool things you can do for lead generation and conversion.

Which is EXACTLY WHY I created the Cash Flow Calendars that I’ve been using for the past 7 years with my clients’ businesses.

Fran was doing, on a good month, $1,000 every 30 days from her online store.

She grabbed the calendar, applied what I gave her in there, and RACKED up her sales from $1,000 a month… to $1,000 a DAY!

All with some simple story telling, added into a multi-step Cash Flow Campaign.

The 2014 Cash Flow Marketing Calendar is almost done the new additions (awesome new dates added, new copy and paste templates added, new audio trainings, and a TON of new bonuses).

On Friday it goes from the pre-release discount of $57 up to $97.2014 Cash Flow Marketing Calendar Plan

DETAILS ARE HERE: http://cashflowcalendars.com/2014cfc

It will be sent to you this Friday – right when the price goes from $57 to $97 (and is STILL a fraction of what it should be sold for – just ONE campaign can be worth thousands to you – so you know it’s true).

Not only do you get the Cash Flow Calendar, the 1500 or so marketing ideas, the copy and paste campaigns you can run, the audio training, the bonus training to maximize your return on the calendar…

…you also get ongoing updates and supports for the year.

For $57 until Friday.

Seriously… if you don’t think a $57 investment is worth it to go from thousand dollar months to thousand dollar days… you and I probably aren’t a good fit anyhow. I am all about massive implementation in marketing – story telling – and wacky marketing campaigns. I know that any investment in marketing is a wise investment. This Calendar alone has made millions for my clients (testimonials on http://cashflowcalendars.com/2014cfc) – you can grab them now for $57.

If that offends you me asking you to invest in a product like this, I wish you all the best hoping and praying your way to success.

If it doesn’t offend you and you have thick enough skin to actually invest in your marketing and business, and are willing to try some new and innovative marketing ideas…

Then just invest the $57 would ya? http://cashflowcalendars.com/2014cfc

It’s guaranteed.

It’s a proven system for growing your business.

And it will put money in your pocket each and every time you run one of the campaigns.

About as fair as it gets in an unfair world!

For the thick-skinned marketers out therehttp://cashflowcalendars.com/2014cfc

For the thin-skinned ones, best of luck wishing and praying your way to success… good luck.

Have a great and profitable day!

4 frostbitten fingers and my sweaty escape from a nasty Christmas Eve

Coulda been an ugly turnout…

…luckily it just cost me some frost bite (4 finger tips still have no feeling, making it quite ‘different’ to type on the computer )

December 24th, me and a couple other guys went out snowmobiling in Montana. I hadn’t been on one in many years, but the other two had some experience. More than me for sure.

Freaky fast snowmobiles!snowmobiling

We rented brand new Polaris 800 Pro RMKs. One guy had his own.

We were having a blast and enjoying the fresh powder, with a few beautiful groomed trails mixed in. A couple small frozen lakes made for some fun times too.

Then they decide to go down this one hill without trails, and with some very steep terrain…

Oh oh.

Next thing you know, all 3 sleds are stuck in incredibly deep snow (I stepped near a tree well and went chin deep in the snow!).

Over 2 hours of digging these out, and trying to find a way to get out of the mess we were in (only was was back up the hill, the very steep hill).

We had to watch the time as darkness and cold were both fast approaching.snowmobiling

After some pretty intense digging and trying, we got 2 of the 3 snowmobiles out.

Right in the nick of time.

We can leave the one and come back later to get it out in daylight.

Dusk is settling and the temperature dropping.

35 miles to go!

I was soaked with sweat under my jack and snow pants.snowmobiling

My gloves were drenched.

It was the coldest, longest drive I have ever experienced… but we made it.

Some fingers got frostbite but we all were safe.

Frostbite is not all that uncommon when you live where I do and you enjoy the out doors.

It happens rarely, but it happens (walking my dog at the dog park has cost me a few frozen spots on the cheeks :).

If we didn’t get the snowmobiles out, we had 35 miles to get back. We could have camped with what little supplies we had. We could have walked as far as possible. We most likely would have found a spot with cell coverage, as there was a spot a few miles back.

It could have been ugly.

It wasn’t.

I had a great adventure and saw some beautiful country.

2 days later, I was downhill skiing in Whitefish and loving it.troy white skiiing

Fantastic times with family.

I hope you had a great Christmas and holiday.

And I wish you all the best for 2013.

Damn Mayans!

They got it all wrong … and all right.

People now have a new found optimism.

National Monkey Day and the Power of Viral Marketing

Did you know that today, December 14th, National Monkey Day (the Ikea Monkey would be proud!)?

If you owned the 2013 Cash Flow Calendar, you would!

AND… even better… you would know how to use National Monkey Day in your marketing to pocket some money.=

Marketing in this day and age is about story telling, sharing, collaborating and fun.

People ARE buying… and you can be the one they buy from.

The Ikea Monkey is an example of the viral effect online. ikea-monkey

If you are living in a cave, or under a rock, you may not have heard of the Ikea Monkey… yet.

You will though.

Darwin, the Ikea Monkey, was found wandering outside of an Ikea Story in Toronto this past weekend.

The young Ikea Monkey captured worldwide attention after he somehow let himself out of a parked car Sunday and ambled around the Ikea parking lot dressed in a fitted shearling coat.

Darwin The Ikea Monkey was captured, held by animal services, and his owner was fined $240 for having a prohibited animal.

Of course, the internet got ahold of this and the viral sweetness of the net took over and Darwin the Ikea Monkey became an overnight sensation and superstar!

Now, this was not used as a marketing gimmick (but I do wonder if the owner of Darwin has alterior motives and wanted to become an overnight star… albeit for the wrong reason… but a star she still has become. Next are book deals and made-for-tv movies I’m sure).

Even if the Ikea Monkey was an ‘honest mistake’, it still shows what can happen when you find a meme and use it to generate massive publicity online.

Millions of people around the world have read about the Ikea Monkey.

Shirts and bumper stickers, I am sure, WILL be printed.

Why not create your own viral sensations?

Think about it…

Here’s a few random picks from the 2013 Cash Flow Calendar:

December 15 – Cat Herder’s Day

December 18 – National Wear a Plunger on Your Head Day

December 26 – National Whiner’s Day

December 30 – Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute Day

January 2 – Happy Mew Year for Cats Day

January 13 – Rubber Duckie’s Birthday

Now, if you can’t think of ONE way to turn those events into something fun for Facebook, or for a blog post (like this), or for your email newsletter… you need SERIOUS help with your marketing!

These are goldmines for marketing ideas.

Youtube videos.

Articles.

Memes on Facebook.

Tweets.

Product launches.

You name it… you can make it work.

So stop messing around with your marketing and get serious!

The 2013 Cash Flow Calendar is PACKED with over 1,500 ideas like this… plus shows you what and how to turn them into marketing ideas.

Marketing ideas galore next week

One of the common questions I get a lot of from other entrepreneurs is around marketing promotions. Specifically, what to market and how to tie it into a campaign.

Which is exactly why I created the Cash Flow Calendar program quite a few years ago.

(special deal on right now here http://blog.smallbusinesscopywriter.com/how-to-turn-47-into-5000/)

Each year I bring out a new version with more and more ideas for promotions.

…many of those promotions already have copy written for you.

Take next week for example.

Its…

* Parents day

* Gorgeous grandma day

* Tell an old joke day

* All or nothing day

* Take your plants for a walk day

* National cowboy day

* National Milk Chocolate daystraight-jacket-marketing

…to mention just a FEW of the ideas for running a special promotion next week.

You know what’s interesting?

The more you promote your business with weird, wacky, and delightfully fun promotions… the more money you make!

So you are if you don’t invest the whopping $47 in this Calendar, audios, swipe file and allllll kinds of goodies!

Yup – downright loopy if you miss out on this one.

http://blog.smallbusinesscopywriter.com/how-to-turn-47-into-5000/

Then… after you got it… get serious about a promotion next week.

Make it a 3-step promotion. Nothing fancy – nothing elaborate – no long 8 page sales letters needed.

Just have fun and do marketing unlike anyone else in your industry…

…and let the cash… flow!

Have a great and profitable day  (and week of promotions ahead).

Troy

PS: I DARE YOU TO start treating your business and marketing like the Olympic Athletes treat their business (their bodies).  They invest in training, the train every day, they don’t make excuses… and they do whatever it takes to be the best at the game.  Have fun with your promotions over the next month and just watch the extra cash that starts flowing.  Your customers will LOVE the variety and wackiness in your new marketing… and they WILL reward you with their orders.  Start watching for unusual promotion ideas like this calendar – it can make you the most talked about one in your field.
