“Miss… would you like a HANDGUN with your necklace?”

Gotta love the ingenuity some entrepreneurs have when it comes to

marketing and capturing free PR.

While the actual gift they get is highly questionable

…I like the out-of-the-box thinking.handgun_31
A jewelry store in the US was giving away handguns with jewelry
purchases!

I personally don’t think the two are such a good fit – and am not sure if a free handgun is a very good bonus with much at all (hunting products or services, self defence training… maybe those… but jewelry?)

…he did something DIFFERENT and CONTROVERSIAL.
So may people are worried about offending people that they never
escape outside the same-old-same-old marketing quagmire they are
stuck in.

People that are easily offended are typically never good
buyers… so is it really that big of a deal if they are offended?

You should have to push pretty hard to offend the real buyers in
your database… and they will tell you rather than bailing on you
if you went too far.

…he got a TON of publicity with his campaign.

Imagine what this person would have had to pay to get mentions on
radio stations and newspapers across North America! Hundreds of
thousands of dollars… millions? Whatever the number is… he
didn’t pay a DIME.

P.T. Barnum would have been PROUD!

I am not saying you should start giving away hand guns as a
bonus… but you should start thinking about the power of
controversy in your marketing.
Could be the best thing you do.

The next best thing?

Grab the 2016 Cash Flow Calendar (tons of controversial marketing ideas!)
http://www.cashflowcalendars.com

Take an idea form the calendar for later this week.

A doozy. Something you can wrap some controversy around.

Then put together 2 or 3 emails talking about your theme – then get them out there with a link to a relevant product they should invest in.

Pretty simple formula for consistent cash flow.

It’s worked for me for 14 years – promise it’ll work for you too!

Have a great day.

How to avoid that ‘new marketer’ smell

Are prospects crinkling up their noses when they see your lead generation efforts?

Maybe you find others avoid stepping near you – almost like you have a strange odour about you?stink

It’s definitely the ‘new marketer’ smell!

Every entrepreneur out there goes through the same phase…

…they are blatantly repelling those they desperately want

…they try too hard to make friends (meanwhile the prospect just wants an escape route)

…over time they figure it out, take the bath and soaking they need, and come out all purdy and sexy-smelling.

But how long they have it and how long they avoid doing what’s necessary is completely up to them.

The cRaZy truth behind one of my most profitable campaigns

The truth can be ugly.

Much like a small display ad I ran untouched in a Canadian paper for 2 YEARS (I also tested it with similar results online)…

A prime example of older advertising that made a MINT!

A prime example of older advertising that made a MINT!

…it was butt ugly.

I was told NOT to run it.

I was told it was UNprofessional.

I was told no one would read all that copy without a single picture (“people have too short of an attention span” was the common complaint I heard).

BS!

They were wrong…I was right.

That awful looking ad will be analyzed in the upcoming Display Ad Dominance training program.

The newspaper I ran it in was a Canadian paper, focused on the business crowd.

It came out every second week – and my ad ran in every edition.

It generated me 50 quality leads EVERY time it ran.

They ended up being my best customer source…

…they bought more products from me

…at higher prices

…and stayed loyal buyers for longer.

Not too shabby for a butt ugly ad that everyone said was “destined to fail”.

Know what else?

This approach works on:

Small ads that bring in gargantuan leads and profits

History has a funny way of repeating itself.

70 years ago, story telling and highly effective display ads were the bomb.

It was the birth of some of the greatest sales success stories ever created.handwoven2

I’ve written about them many times before (like the mountain woven ties ad that sold 26,000 ties with a single display ad).

Then, the trend seemed to move away from compelling stories and well-written copy. You can probably think of more than a few stupid advertisements you’ve seen lately that had a pretty picture, a moronic tag line, and NO CLUE on what it was they were selling.

Recently though. I’ve noticed a lot more longer copy, story-based, lead gen and sales ads.

“Native Ads” is another name for the buzzword of the week. They are, in essence, longer copy display ads, meant to blend in with the surrounding media, and look like content vs advertising.

For the last 14 years, I’ve been writing them for my clients, who LOVE the results they get.

* *

As an example (this just in)…

“We have been working with Troy White for the past couple of years and he has always delivered. Everything from a competitive quote upfront, to the on-time delivery of high quality materials.

Troy has a brilliant gift of capturing the essence of the message and intention we are communicating and he draws upon his years of experience and high level training to elevate all the projects he works on.

I am actually a bit hesitant to provide this testimonial, in fear that he might get too busy… bottom line if you hire Troy White for your next project you will not be disappointed.”

Real Estate Investment Network (REIN)

Gotta love great clients like these guys!

They are Canada’s largest Real Estate Investment group with thousands of paid members. Their members have bought billions of dollars in real estate with their training!

Funny thing is, this organization was BUILT years ago by a copywriter (Don Campbell) – who I took for coffee about 13 years ago to get some suggestions on building a business around copywriting.

Since then, I’ve also shared tips, techniques, and strategies for writing your own effective small display ads.

But, what I haven’t done in many, many years, is given live training and access to best practices on creating your own small display ads.

So…

I’m putting on a webinar next Friday to not only update the content of my Small Display Ads how-to guide, but to give live training on how YOU can fast-track your lead creation and sales numbers.

This is a paid training.

Not an expensive one, but definitely not a free one (nothing is for sale in the training – so it is a content only webinar training class).

A couple of my favourite tools for content and email promotions

Last month, in Story Playbook #4 (http://www.storyplaybook.com), I revealed some techniques I use to build my databases, and improve my cash flow.

One of my favourites…

…Tapping into Blockbuster Movies and Best Selling Books for a GOLDMINE in marketing material

I’ve used this technique for articles (that got me thousands of website visitors and leads from single articles).

I’ve used this for email promotions and sales pages (netting me many more thousands in back end profits)

Get Playbook #5 and start growing your sales

I’ve used this to find joint venture partners, to create Amazon Best-Seller campaigns, and to build prorudtcs I can sell for years to come.

Simple formulas like this can make you a bundle!

Find some of your favourite news or celebrity sites.

Do some simple wordsmithing of the titles that you see *(use the formulas I share in Story Playbooks http://www.storyplaybook.com – to craft highly profitable headlines and subject lines).

Craft your content using stories + transition + offer.

Send.

Each time you do this, I show how to turn one piece of content into 5-10 others.

And – the best part – how to repurpose single efforts into multiple streams of income!

One of my second secrets I shared here is a simple video marketing formula that can bring huge new subscribers and sales.

It’s used on Kickstarter, Indigogo, and a slew of other crowdfunding campaigns.

It’s used on Youtube for search optimized traffic, as well as easily adapted to Youtube and Facebook ads.

I also show how to use this in your main blog site or about us page.

Each step you take means money in your bank.

Story Playbook #5 comes out on Friday…and you DO NOT want to miss these tips:

1) How to use a single story to attract high-ticket, affluent clients…

2) The Secret List-building idea I found for generating a highly targeted list of passionate buyers…

3) Tiny differences between hot-selling stories, and crappy waste-of-time passion-eating stories…

4) Copy/paste simplicity in actual multi-part email campaigns you can send to your list…

And a whole bunch of proven money-makers you can implement right away.

Start YOUR year right – master your ability to weave in solid stories with cash flow creating copy.

Have a great day.

Ron White (the comedian) bares all to thin-skinned marketers with 2 quick tips

I was watching a Ron White (no relation : o ) stand-up show on Netflix the other day…and it was both awesome AND eye-opening!

Ron makes millions a year from his businesses and acts.

RonWhiteHe’s best buds with Dr Phil (and has an awesome story about getting hammered on Dr Phils yacht)…he hob-nobs with all the A-list players…and he’s a funny guy!

But he said something right at the very end of his hour and a half long show that struck a chord with me.

It went something like…

“Thanks for a great evening… and in just 30 short minutes, you won’t remember a word I just said!”

Meant for a laugh…but very, very true for all of us.

People paid a good chunk of change to have him entertain them for an hour (lesson #1) – and just 30 minutes after the show ends, they won’t remember a thing he said (so, so true – they may remember the odd funny story – but most of what they paid big bucks for is gone (lesson #2).

What does it mean to you?

1) People WILL pay good money to you if you can tell good, entertaining stories.

This applies in B2B and B2C (remember the story I shared about my trash bin guy getting a 19% response to a cold-list mailing by telling a story about his family? Those were the biggest companies in the home industry – and 19% of them responded because of a great story)

2) People forget ALLLLLLL about you very quickly.

Admit it – there’s a TON of distractions out there. TV, Netflix, Facebook, Texting, Instagram, emails, yadayada. Lose their interest and they’re gone!

Those people paid Ron bigggggg bucks for an hour and half entertainment.

They get nothing more than the memory – and that’s guaranteed to disappear rapidly.

And YOUR CLIENTS will forget you. Mine will forget me.

There’s so many options out there to distract ourselves.

SO…

How do you keep their attention?

YOU KEEP IN TOUCH.

Frequently!

Not once a year – even once a month (think about all the things that distract you in 30 days – that’s a lot of reasons to stop paying attention).

The 2016 Cash Flow Calendar and Copywriting Training program is designed to make you…

…a prolific marketer! http://www.cashflowcalendars.com

It not only guides you through EXACTLY how to stay in touch with your clients and prospects…how to write your emails for maximum impact…

…it gives you the ideas to craft your stories and emails

…it gives you the emails you can send

…it gives you a very simple way to stay in touch, entertain them, and persuade them in an ongoing marketing plan.

STUPID TROY ADMISSION

I just fixed an issue with the shopping cart that I didn’t originally think was an issue.

For ONE MONTH this has been a problem, yet I had no idea.

Cost me a bundle.

Anyhow, it’s fixed – and you can easily pick which option gets you to your goals fastest http://www.cashflowcalendars.com

Keep in touch or they WILL forget you!

Have a great weekend.
